Common Off-Grid System Alarms

Common alarms and what to do

Inverter Overload

If your inverter has shut down and the system display shows an alarm with 'Inverter Overload' - switch off or unplug any high power appliances then put the inverter switch to the centre 'Off' or '0' position. Wait 10 seconds then put the inverter switch back to the 'On' or 'I' position (see page 19 for switch locations). The inverter should return to the normal 'inverting' state and have the power back on.

Identify any combinations of high power appliances and reduce the demand on the inverter by powering less appliances at any one time. If you continue to receive overload alarms, please call Commodore for assistance.

Low Battery

If your power has gone out and the 'Low battery' alarm is shown on the screen, you can get the power back on again by starting a petrol or diesel powered generator. This is where an auto-start generator would earn its keep. See pages 13 & 14 for information on connecting a generator.

If you don't have a generator, the solar charge controller will start to charge your battery once the sun is out, and your inverter will come back on automatically once the batteries charge up to a pre-set level. If this alarm is happening too often call Commodore to check over your system and see if you need to add more solar panels and/or batteries.
