Setting Your Generator Input Current

When connecting a generator into your off-grid system, one of the most common issues is an incorrectly set input current. The article below addresses this issue

Before you power up a generator connected to the system, please ensure the appropriate power limit is set for your generator by following the steps below.

This will ensure the generator is operated only within its ideal limits. The power limit is set in 'Amps'.

Common Generator Current Limits

This table covers the most common generators and aims to keep the generator operating within the ideal limit of around 80%:

- 2kVA Generator - current limit 6amps

- 3kVA Generator - current limit 10amps

- 5kVA Generator - current limit 15amps

- 8kVA Generator - current limit 25amps

- 10kVA Generator - current limit 32amps

- 15kVA Generator - current limit 48amps

- 20kVA Generator - current limit 64amps

- 30kVA Generator - current limit 96amps
